Captain Laffite (Burman Laffite)

Born an unwanted infant tossed overboard, Burman Laffite endured a harsh life from the destitute docks of New Orleans through Civil War service to failure as a steamboat captain. After drowning he was trapped in a nightmarish afterlife, tormented by sea creatures, until a forsaken soul salvaged and reassembled his decayed remains. Now his arteries have transformed into marsh ways and canals, leaving him a liminal being either alive ten times over or not alive at all.
